Prep & Aftercare

We are frequently asked how what needs to be done prior to and after the procedure. Here are pre and post care instructions:

LASER SKIN REJUVENATION/TIGHTENING INSTRUCTIONS

Pre-Treatment

  • You must wait 6 weeks after unprotected sun exposure/tanning before treatment.
  • Ensure that the skin is clean of make-up, moisturizers, lotions and dry.

Post Treatment

  • Cool compress/cool aloe vera gel.
  • May apply cool compress for 10 minutes every hour at home for additional comfort and swelling.May need to sleep with head elevated for 1-2 nights.
  • Sunblock of 15 – 30 SPF daily.
  • Avoid sun exposure during treatment sessions. Reapply sunblock during the day if outdoors.Unprotected sun exposure (direct/indirect) may result in hyperpigmentation.
  • Avoid strenuous activity for 24 hours.

LASER PIGMENTED LESION INSTRUCTIONS

Pre-Treatment

  • Skin must be clean and dry.
  • May use topical anesthetic, it must be degreased and washed off thoroughly immediately prior to the treatment.

Post Treatment

  • Cool compress
  • Use of antibiotic or Aquaphor as some people may experience an allergic reaction to antibiotic ointment., to keep moist until scab/crust falls off.
  • Skin underneath where scab/crust fell off will be pink.SPF of 15-30 mandatory and reapply several times a day, especially if in the sun! Normal color will return in time.

LASER HAIR REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS

Pre-Treatment

  • Shave at least 24 hours prior to appointment.
  • No tweezing, waxing, plucking or electrolosis for 6 weeks prior to appointment.
  • Treatment area must be free of make-up, lotion, deodorant, and ointments. Ensure the skin is dry before the treatment.
  • You must wait 6 WEEKS after unprotected sun exposure/tanning before treatment and NO TANNING during treatment at all. You may use sunless tanners, BUT MUST EXFOLIATE THOROUGHLY prior to each treatment. It is advisable to stop use of sunless tanner for at least 1 week prior to treatment.

Post-Treatment

  • You must wear sunblock of at least 15-30 SPF after treatment and during the course of treatments. Reapply throughout the day if outdoors.
  • Hair will start to shed at around 2 weeks post treatment. No tweezing, plucking waxing or electrolysis. You may shave or use a washcloth/loofah to exfoliate the hairs.
  • May reapply deodorant and make-up after treatment if skin does not feel too irritated.
  • No tanning during treatments!
  • May use cool compress post treatment for comfort. Redness may last 2-5 hours up to several days.
  • May experience swelling or itching after treatment. Topical hydrocortisone/betamethasone or benadryl may be used. Oral antihistamine can also be used (claritin is preferred during the day, benadryl is effective but may cause drowsiness).
  • May need to avoid exercise for 24 hours post laser hair removal. Heat and exertion can stimulate a histamine response and might cause swelling and edema.
